Delivery dates, part of DispatchThread
The delivery date, worked out at checkout
Not a flat “3 to 5 working days”. A real-time carrier for your BigCommerce checkout that looks at what is in the basket, what is on the shelf, what time it is, the bank holidays and the supplier’s lead time, and quotes the dates that are true for that order. The same dates appear on the product page before the customer gets that far.

What the customer sees
- At checkout
- Your delivery services, each with a price and a date range worked out for this basket. Free delivery over a threshold you set, and free postage on the items you choose, without hiding the paid upgrades.
- On the product page
- The delivery card and the line under the price come from the same engine: the cheapest service and its dates, the fastest and its dates, and “order within” until the dates next change.
- Honest about what is not here
- An item on back-order from a supplier quotes the supplier’s date, not today’s. An altered garment quotes the factory’s lead time. A basket with one slow item is quoted for the slow item.
Your rules, on a screen
- Services and prices
- Name your services, price them, and say which is free over what amount. Every change is a numbered version you can read back and go back to.
- Cut-offs and lead times
- An order cut-off, a later one for items on the shop shelf, a shelf handling time, supplier lead times in working days, a buffer for counter sales nobody recorded. Saturday packing if you do it.
- The calendar
- England and Wales bank holidays fetched from GOV.UK and kept up to date, so nothing promises Monday on a bank holiday.
- Preview before anyone sees it
- Put any basket in and see what it would be quoted now, with the reason for each date. Then a log of every quote the checkout actually gave, and a list of the ones that went wrong.
How it is built
- A real BigCommerce carrier
- Registered with BigCommerce as a carrier, so the quotes arrive in the ordinary checkout and in the order record. No theme hacks for the prices; a small script tidies the names.
- Reads stock, never writes it
- It asks the stock control module what is on the shelf for each line and makes nothing up. Without stock control it still works, from your lead times alone.
- Backed up and watched
- Nightly backups to your own bucket, a monitor that checks it every five minutes, and a staging copy to try changes on before customers see them.

Tell us which modules you are waiting for and we will write to you when they open, and before that if we want to show you something. Nothing is stored on this website: it goes to our inbox, and we reply as people.
Thank you. We have your details and will write when there is something to show you.
